Welcome to Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Jam!
November’s theme was minimalism. The Bookish Hufflepuff had this to say:
My BBEFJ for this month is more of a vision. I’m trying to declutter and practice more minimalism in my own life and one of the ways I wanted to do this was to create a quilt of some old T-shirts. Over the past year, I’ve realized that Harry Potter is central to a lot of my other life experiences. I centered my one official HP shirt and my Hermione “Fight Like a Girl” shirt to show this in the quilt. I hope to send it to a company to be made into a quilt within the next few days.
She also shared a photograph of her plan for her T-shirt quilt. What a practical way to hold onto memories!
The Galleon Guy made a spur-of-the-moment Wicked parody in minimalist style. He says,
as I was flying home from wzrdfest, on the delayed flight, a bit disheveled, no internet, I was just listening to music that I had on my phone because no internet. and 40k feet in the air, somewhere between orlando and austin, I started thinking about my experience at the concert. and how everything, both the expected and unexpected, all happened for good. Right then, that particular song from wicked came up in my music library shuffle. and the words just came to me. I wrote them down on my phone (something i never do because it’s hard to see the scrolling lyrics, much less type, on a phone), but i felt i had to capture them before they went away. that night when i got home, i made a recording of the song and put it straight in the discord, literally the minute I got home. i only mixed the nice version the next day. that’s how much I wanted to get it out.
You can listen to the Galleon Guy’s WZRDFest for good here.
I’d also like to give a shout-out to SlytherSpouse, who released A SlytherSpouse Holiday this November. The EP features four characteristically short tracks, all under a minute and all enjoyable.
As December begins and 2024 ends, let’s take on endings and beginnings as our theme this month.
You’re invited to create songs, poems, collages, paintings, or any project you like—just have fun, and please do share! Partial projects count, too, or you can finish something you’ve already got laying around. The point is just to be creative. Go ahead and get started!
