The Wrock Wreview: The Dirigible Plums EP

The Album

Released on September 10 of 2018, The Dirigible Plums EP contains five songs from The Lovegoods. The Lovegoods are a three piece Second Wave Wizard Rock band from Kitchener, Ontario, with Elsa Ruck on vocals and electric guitar, Graeme Ruck on bass guitar, and Graham Watson on drums.

The Tracks

Dirigible Plums is the introduction to the EP, and at only thirteen seconds, packs more of a punch than you’re ready for.

Next up is Emo Harry. It’s a hype song about right before Harry’s second year at Hogwarts. When he thinks his friends don’t care anymore, he gets sad and sulky. The vocals and instrumentals give us such high energy as we begin to really kick off this EP.

Get ready for sad wrock with Pandora’s Song. Channeling their inner Ravenclaw, The Lovegoods bring us on a journey through Luna’s mother’s thoughts and wishes for her daughter. I love sad wrock, and this hit the exact right spot.

Invincible has, for a long time, been one of the songs I put on if I want to feel, well, invincible. It has such a great bassline and badass melody. The performers, whether on instrument or vocals, go hard and make me feel big feelings.

The final song on this five-track EP is Granger Bomb. This is the perfect song for any Hermione fans or anyone who wants a high energy song to jam along to. The Lovegoods highlight all of Hermione’s kickass traits in the best way possible.

In Summary

The Lovegoods know how to deliver wrock songs that will get you right in the feels. From sad wrock to hype feminist tracks, they have everything you need right here in this EP. Now, if you’ll pardon me, I’m off to kick some Death Eater butt.
