The Album
I am so excited to be reviewing the shortest album I have ever seen in my entire life for you today. Eponymous, by SlytherSpouse, has just four songs, with the longest track being 19 seconds long. SlytherSpouse collaborated with both myself and Dream Quaffle for this album, and I’m chuffed with how it came out. Let’s go!
The Tracks
What if Harry Were a Robot is up first. Robotic Harry speaks to Ron and Ginny, ending with an iconic line: “The author is dead.” What a fantastic start to the album! I love the robotic voice’s use in this song and how it keeps stuttering throughout.
I play the ukulele for the next track, Butterbeer. The lyrics are absolutely hilarious and it gives a classic tune a new spin. I really like how it turned out. Plus it’s the first time we get to hear SlytherSpouse’s voice! Absolutely incredible.
I was laughing out loud during Growth. With an upbeat backing track, Daniel Radcliffe’s voice comes at us from the first movie to “I am the Chosen One.” It ends with Hermione’s classic line, “What an idiot.” This song is brilliant.
Chocolate Frog is last, featuring Dream Quaffle on guitar. We hear SlytherSpouse’s voice once more, singing a tune to a chocolate frog, inviting it into a waiting mouth.
In Summary
At a mere 56 seconds long, this album provides us with such a wide variety of music. Collaborations, robots, clips from movies, and a brand new voice in the wizard rock scene all have their time in this album. I sincerely loved it and I can’t wait to see what SlytherSpouse does next!
