The Tracks
In European drinking-song fashion, we start off the album with The Common Welsh Green. This song is about all different types of dragons and how dangerous they are. However, you can have a pint with the Common Welsh Green. The Celtic music combined with tavern patrons talking in the background really give this song a cozy warm feel to it, like a Butterbeer!
What time is it? It’s Quidditch Time! Harry sings about all of the problems he’s had during Quidditch matches over a lovely instrumental background, which includes guitar, piano, and drum set. They also include background vocals which I really enjoyed.
Colin Creevey is next, singing about Harry’s biggest fan with his Muggle camera. My favorite part of this song was halfway through, when the band sings “ColinColinColinColinColin.”
The Quaffle Kids start out the next song slowly with a neat chord progression. Not Like Me is all about how different Harry and Voldemort are, even though their destinies are intertwined. Near the end of the song, the band picks up the tempo before going back to the original slow beat, which I really liked.
Magical Me is a song from Professor Lockhart’s perspective. It is sung in a haughty British accent and is absolutely hilarious. I particularly enjoyed the instrumentals in this one, which included flute!
Who do we know that has a Black Hand, Long White Beard? This funky song is all about Dumbledore’s quirks and possessions. There is an awesome trumpet harmonizing section in this song, and as a trumpet player I appreciated that a lot. The lyrics are witty and funny, and I really liked it.
Keeping with Luna’s psychedelic aesthetic, Loony Luna features vocals and instrumentals that are out of this world. This song is full of groovy alliteration and praises for their favorite Ravenclaw.
Ron’s Rant starts with a driving bassline that transitions into Ron talking about how much Harry gets on his nerves. Brass instrumentals back up this track, giving it a nice full sound during the chorus. In addition to the brass, there is a sweet sax solo in the back end of the song.
I loved the whistling intro to the next song, I’ll Make It Through. From Neville’s perspective, we hear about his life at Hogwarts. The background vocals and harmonies are incredibly lovely. We get another taste of some classy woodwinds mid-song. This was definitely a favorite for me.
I love the title of the penultimate song: Trelawney Predicted That I’d Die Ten Times Today. This song is exactly what you think it’s about, and it’s hilarious. It lists out the many different ways that Harry could potentially die, depending on what Trelawney predicts on any given day.

A tribute to all the wizard rockers out there ends this album with the song Wizard Rockers Unite. Shout outs to specific bands include: Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, The Parselmouths, The Hermione Crookshanks Experience, The Moaning Myrtles, The Remus Lupins, and The Hungarian Horntails.
In Summary
If you’re looking for a fun-filled album to listen to, Bludgers and Broomsticks is the album for you! Packed with energy, hilarious lyrics, and different points of view, this album really covers a lot of Potter bases.
