That’s right, for this week’s Flashback Friday, it’s wizard rock’s original thrash metal band, Thestral!

Thestral only has three songs up on their MySpace page at this point, and no other place to listen to their fantastic 80’s metal inspired wrock songs. They were quite active from 2006 until around early 2008 or so, before they stopped releasing music. So listen to Sectumsempra above, and head over to their MySpace page to rock out to some wizard metal.

I discovered wrock in 2006 and fell in love with it completely in 2007. After fronting a band that played too loud & sang too out of tune but got to perform at Wrockstock anyways, I traded in the guitar and drums for a keyboard to help with the ‘pedia. You may still hear (or see) me bashing away on the drums for other wrock bands.

    YES! Just the other week, I was feeling a need for more Thestral in my life and went to their MySpace page just for a listen.

    Another excellent song of theirs (in fact, the first one I heard from them) is ‘Full Moon Rising’.
