Flashback Friday – Hollow Godric

Here’s an incredibly old, but no less incredibly awesome, video of one of the rare Hollow Godric live performances.

“Autumn Note” will forever be one of my absolute favorite wizard rock songs, and Brandon Blair one of my favorite wizard rock musicians.

Hollow Godric’s two albums can still be purchased via their Bandcamp page, and make an excellent addition to any wizard rock collection, if they’re not already there. And seriously, if there’s not there, WHY AREN’T THEY?

Hollow Godric was one of my favourite bands for a long time, so THANK YOU for doing this. It is nice to relive the old music 🙂

You’re welcome! We’re kind of caught in an in-between phase here at the ‘pedia – we want to feature new wizard rock bands and releases, which we know are out there. But they’re so spread out, it’s tough to proactively find them, so bands emailing us about news and releases is very helpful.

Along those same lines, we know that there are a lot of newer wrock fans every day, and we’re trying to share some older music with them in hopes that they’ll discover some fantastic music that they might not see if they get all their newer listens from places like Tumblr, Soundcloud, etc.

I’ll never understand what I’ve done to deserve the kind of amazing friendship and support I’ve received from Russ, everyone at Wizrocklopedia, and the community as a whole, but trust me when I say that there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t appreciate the fans/friends. These songs were 100% motivated by the positive energy I received from the WRock movement.

I’ll dig around and see if I can’t post some higher res video of our performance, it was a night to remember!

awkwardly commenting a year later to say that this is also one of my favorite wrock songs ever! (nothing will ever top trainride for me, though.) this live version is even better than the studio one, in my opinion; i only wish it were higher quality. (could someone do a quick transcript of what he says in the first part of the video, before starting the song? i can’t understand a word of it.) that dreamy interlude from around 1:38 on sounds frickin’ gorgeous with live harmonies and the new lead guitar part. i’m obsessed.
