Question Tuesday!

question_tuesday

With summer approaching, the number of tours and wizard rock shows shoots through the roof for a few months. With that in mind, here’s this week’s question:

What would be your ultimate wizard rock tour lineup?

Let’s keep it between 3-5 bands tops, as we’re talking a DIY wrock tour, not Lollapalooza!

So let’s hear it! What bands would make up your ultimate wrock tour lineup?

    Oh where do I start?

Ok, this is just my initial reaction…

    The Mudbloods
The Remus Lupins (playing primarily Teenage Werewolf songs)
    The Whomping Willows
    Draco and the Malfoys
And then finally, Harry and the Potters playing the entirety Power of Love

Love the question. I’ll keep it to four.

Split Seven Ways, who I have long thought to be the best female wrock singer
Seven Potters, the second best female wrock act
    Ministry of Magic
The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office

Those four could make a great experience for me, two of the ‘folk’ wrock and two of the best electronic acts.

    Oh, tough question.

    Harry and the Potters
    The Remus Lupins
    The Mudbloods
    Diagon Alley
    The Blibbering Humdingers

I wanted so badly to put Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls, Hawthorn and Holly and Gred and Forge on this list so badly. But you said only 3-5.

And that’s exactly why I said only 3-5 🙂 I wanted everyone to think hard about it – because a tour doesn’t have 12 bands playing. I could just toss out the names of my 10 favorite bands, but there’s no chance in heck they’d all tour in a van together 😀

    Nice picks, James!

I’m going to cheat and make two lists – one for a Whompy-style house tour, and one for a more traditional HatP-style libraries-and-venues tour, because I feel both have very different atmospheres and pros/cons.

    House tour:
    The Seven Potters
    The Blibbering Humdingers
    Bella’s Love
    Split Seven Ways
    The Mudbloods

    Venue tour:
    The Brothers Black
    Fawkes
    Ministry of Magic
    Draco and the Malfoys
    The Weasel King

Hmmmmm, maybe I could make an article out of this…

I’ve left out bands I’ve already heard live, partly because a number of them are my friends and partly because variety.

The Hungarian Horntails (DRAGON ROCK RULES)

    Let’s Lumos

    Tonks and the Aurors

Butterbeer Experience (Ideally one of her musicals. Maybe a Beedle the Bard related set with semi-staged bits and the Tale of Three Brothers?)

    Wingardium Leviosa

    Swish and Flick

I get six because HH songs last about ten seconds.

P.S. Does anyone remember the name of that band who sang a bit like Cornish pirates? It was folky, possibly dragon related and sounded like raucous, well accompanied drinking songs. I think they were on WZRD at one point.

My list is different because it’s more about who I’d want to perform with and be on a 3 week road-trip with. My fantasy is that we’d all morph into one gigantic mega-wrock band switching around instruments and performing one another’s songs as one band. Since I’m hand picking individuals for my dream team, I think I deserve a few extra people in my line up, though it is still a difficult exercise to whittle this list down to people who will fit into a tour van.

    The Blibbering Humdingers (duh)
    Bryce Cone (Neville’s Diary fame)
    Grace Kendall (Snidget fame)
Ashley Hamel (Bella and LeStrangers fame)
    Matt Maggiacomo (the Whomping Willows)
    Lauren Fairweather (Lauren Fairweather)
    Bethany Parker (Kwikspell)
