Every June in Pittsburgh, we have the Three Rivers Arts Fest, 10 days of artists selling their wares, juried art exhibits, fair food, and free concerts. I spent Thursday night there, listening to Ingrid Michaelson. While her show wasn’t the greatest (with its forced banter and opening with a folk-y version of ‘Poker Face’) her studio music is more impressive. Her music may not be cutting-edge, but she has a Regina Spektor/Brandi Carlisle-esque sound that I really enjoyed. Her hit, ‘Maybe’, is incredible catchy, and I could watch its whimsical video over and over again.

Wait, what time were you at the festival? I was there on Thursday too! I didn’t pay much attention to the musical act, though, so I have no idea if it was Ingrid (though I wish I’d known she’d be playing, I dig some of her stuff). I was there around 4:30-6.
My favourite song by her is probably “Far Away”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6Qrj74T2JY&feature=related
