We’ve got the last three categories for you to check out! Stay tuned because final voting will be starting sometime this weekend.
Best Video
D.A. Power, by Tianna Weasley and Bobby Walch
Seven Potters, by Brandon Nicholas, featuring The Remus Lupins
Howler, by Hank Green, featuring Lauren Fairweather
Goodbye Privet Drive, by Luke Conard, featuring Jason Munday
Funky Christmas (At the Yule Ball), by Oscar Forslund, featuring Solitary Snape
(Unfortunately, Funky Christmas is only available as a download at the moment.)
For Best Song and Band of the Year, we ran into a problem – there was just too much to love in 2009 that we couldn’t pare it down to only five nominees. For each of these categories, we will have seven nominees.
Best Song
‘Lovely Lily’ by The Remus Lupins
‘Astoria Greengrass and the Pure-Blood Prince’ by Swish and Flick
‘A House Grown with Ivy’ by Let’s Lumos!
‘A Heart Can Change’ by The Whomping Willows
‘Quidditch Witch’ by Split Seven Ways, Fred and George the Band, and Swish and Flick
‘We Are Magic’ by Tonks and the Aurors
‘Only Power Remains’ by Ministry of Magic, featuring Nina Jankowicz
And for the final category – Band of the Year.
We believe that every single one of these bands worked their asses off in 2009 to contribute to the community. These shouldn’t be our “favorite” bands – they should be bands that showed consistent musicianship, leadership in the community, and, overall, made 2009 another amazing year for wizard rock.
Thank you to all of them, and thank you to the whole community – every other band, fans, merch girls, event planners, house party hosts, and, yes, even The Giant Squidstravaganza. Y’all are why we spend our free time organizing this, and I know I speak for Dinah and Art as well when I say that (deep, deep down), we really do love doing it for you.
