#WrockWednesday Takes On MC Kreacher

Okay, so last night a tweet from a friend caught me off guard. She was exclaiming over how awesome MC Kreacher is and how she just didn’t know it before. To which I responded that clearly I was lax in my duties if she was only just discovering this fact. Now, I can’t recall just when his first song was released, but I do know that I downloaded and regularly listened to ‘House Elf 4 Life’ shortly following that time.

Especially in the past, I was never one for rap and/or hip-hop music. It was stuck in my mind purely as the nonsense they would play at the school dances, etc. So when I realized that I liked this song, I was shocked. From there, I kept waiting and waiting for MC Kreacher to release more music. Didn’t happen… until the EP of the Month Club this year. I first heard his new music in Boston (or was it Cambridge?) at the WizRock Iz Dead show. To say the least, I love all his music, and his new music was amazing. Not to mention the fact that Miles is a particularly engaging performer.

So without further ado, I’m going to point you in the direction of MC Kreacher. Seriously, though. Check him out. And subscribe to the EP of the Month Club if you haven’t already. 😉

MC Kreacher is amazing! I never liked rap either and so when I ordered the Wizard Rock EP of the Month Club this year I wasn’t expecting the MC Kreacher (or Danny Dementor) disc to be one of my favorites, but I was pleasantly surprised by loving both of those discs. MC Kreacher has catchy melodies and really great lyrics that give us a sympathetic and complex portrayal of a sad and misunderstood house elf. Definitely go check out his EP. It’s wonderful.

“Alone in the Dark” is one of the top 3 wizrock EP’s of all time, and I think MC Kreacher has firmly positioned himself as none other than the best wizard rapper out there. Please note, that I put wiz-rap and wizhop in two different distinct categories.

Of course, I can name the wizard rappers that I know of on one hand – MC Kreacher, Fawkes, Big Whompy, and Dumbledore…

    More wiz-rap!

His flow is tight, and his rhymes are incredible. Some of his verses simply blow me away with how intricate and extended the rhyme schemes are. And as Martha said, it’s all in aid of making a really interesting point about Kreacher’s existence – and it’s subversive, too. There are definite social issues at play in the lyrics (and the character itself).
