Happy #MuggleMusicMonday everyone! For today’s artist, I would first like to describe to you a Wizard Rock experience I had.
At last year’s Wrockstock, The Weasel King played his first ever live Wizard Rock performance. If you have listened to his music, you will know that it has many layers, yet there is but one musician. I didn’t even realize it was possible until I saw it happen, but The Weasel King recorded his own backup vocals while performing live and set them to loop under the vocals he was providing currently. The result was a truly spectacular live performance that I will never forget.
Now imagine seeing something like that for the first time ever and then discovering Zoë Keating, a remarkable cellist whose specialty is recording “layer upon layer of cello, her feet dancing over an array of pedals to transform her solo performances into multipart works.” To say the least, my mind was blown – in a good way.
Zoë is a classically trained cellist from the time of her childhood and, after moving to San Francisco, she was able to develop the style that now defines her. A combination of classical and electronic music blends seamlessly to entertain listeners and, in my case, alleviate headaches! So I would whole-heartedly recommend you listen to some Zoë Keating soon!
A great way to get started is to follow us on Twitter and Blip.fm, from which I will be sharing music from Zoë throughout the day!
