Happy #MuggleMusicMonday, everyone! Today, I’d like to share with you a band that I came across as a result of my love of Harry Potter. A couple years ago, I decided that my university needed a Harry Potter Club. So I created one. Then it was time for International Education Week and we were asked to help host the UK event. At this event, we were provided with a mix CD of British music called Britain Rocks. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t listen to it until about 9 months after I received it. When I did, however, a few songs stood out. One of those songs was ‘Your Easy Life’ by Alexis Blue. This prompted me to seek out more music from this band and I was far from disappointed!
While ‘Your Easy Life’ is their most popular and recognized song, I have to ensure you hear more than just their hit. My personal favourite has to be ‘Poker Face’ with its mellow yet almost jaunty sound, it brings a smile to my face each time I hear it. Easy to listen to for hours on end, Alexis Blue is hailed as a favourite among unsigned bands and is particularly mentioned as a top unsigned band in Liverpool. I see Alexis Blue as something of a kindred spirit of Wizard Rockers in the sense that they take the same pride in their music – writing, recording, mastering it all themselves – as so many Wrockers we listen to every day (not to mention their use of a tambourine which, as we all know from any live Wrock show, is a favourite of Wrockers).
You can learn more about the band members and band history on the Band Biography page or download their debut album Hypothetical Situations for free on their website. Either way, I recommend checking these guys out!
