Weekly Wrock Wrap Up

We were so excited about the new site that we didn’t get around to reporting the news this week. So, here it is, a few days late.

Summer Tours!

Last Thursday, there were two separate tour announcements – one with The Whomping Willows, Justin Finch-Fletchley and the Sugar Quills, and The Moaning Myrtles; the other with Pottercast, The Remus Lupins, and The Whomping Willows! All the booked tour dates can be found on our calendar in the sidebar or the bands’ MySpaces.

Albums

Prophets of Godrics Hollow has their latest album available for free download here.

Jarrod of Gred and Forge spent this weekend packaging and shipping copies of his new album, Pitches Witches Riches, so if you ordered one, it should be coming your way very soon. If you haven’t ordered it yet, you can still do so on his MySpace or get it instantly from iTunes. (I recommend the instant gratification.)

Swish and Flick have finished recording their first full-length album, S-L-Y in Slytherin, which will “hopefully be available by LeakyCon”. If you’re lucky enough to make it to the Pre-LeakyCon Extravaganza on May 20th, you will also be able to snag a copy a little early.

Songs

The Lost Diadems have two new songs up, ‘You Left Me’ and ‘One Day’, a collaboration with Dawlish and the Archies.

Check out the three new songs from one of the newest wrock bands, The Quibbler Writing Staff. They’ve added ‘We Took Harry Potter’s Side’, ‘Remus Lupin, What’s That You’re Doing?’, and ‘She May Be Bossy, But I Love Her Smile’.

Scarlet Women also added three new songs, ‘Horcruxes’, ‘REWIND’, and ‘Dumbledore’s Body’.

Teen Thestral also has something new up – ‘Luna Loves You’.

The Whomping Willows has released yet another new song from his upcoming album called ‘Don’t Let Me Explode’, with harmonies sung by Lauren of The Moaning Myrtles.

Videos

You can hear The Swedish Shortsnouts performing a sound check of ‘The Snape Song’ for the Wrock Gothenburg show in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Friday right here.

The Remus Lupins have a new video for ‘Seven Potters’, directed by Brandon Nicholas. If you haven’t seen this yet, check out its noir-y goodness below.

I happened to check the calendar a couple days ago and squeed when I saw the updates. But! Of all the days, the Whompy/JFF/Myrtle show in Pittsburgh has to fall on the day I was hoping/planning to drive to Columbus to see the Decemberists live. Now I officially have A Dilemma.

On the other hand, the Remus Lupins show at a couple weeks later happens to be on a day where nothing else to my knowledge is happening, plus it’s a day I should be off work anyway without having to request it, so that seems to be a lock. Not that it wasn’t a lock as soon as Alex told me they’d be coming back in June, really.

The Seven Potters video is amazing, of course. Brandon’s artwork and photography for the albums is fantastic, so I expected nothing less.

Edit: And belatedly, the new site is awesome! And huzzah for edit buttons! (Not that I generally need them with my obsessive pedantry!)
