Most of us know by now how wizard rock started. We’ve heard the story of the Switchblade Kittens‘ song ‘Ode to Harry’ and how Paul and Joe DeGeorge played their first show as Harry and the Potters. I’m about to start a series of articles on the influences and influenced of wizard rock, so we’ll get more into that soon.
But while you’re waiting for that, there is one tidbit of history that you should check out. I’m sure many of you have read Melissa Anelli’s book, Harry, A History and have seen the chapter on wizard rock. In it, she tells a story related to her about Joe at one of his Muggle band’s shows. It’s a great story that tells the beginning of wizard rock as we know it. Of course, the thing with stories is that they tend to change over time, little details being modified to fit which part you want to empahasize.
Only this story hasn’t actually been changed. And Melissa has proof of this over at her website for Harry, A History. Go check it out.
