This week’s question might be a little bit harder for you to narrow down.

What are your favorite wizard rock lyrics?

For the sheer ability to make me laugh out loud, I like Draco and the Malfoys‘ ‘In Which I Kick Harry Potter In The Face’:
“I just kicked you in the face
Hey Harry Potter, how does your blood taste?
I know nothing could ever replace
The picture in my mind of your kicked-in face.”

For the pure message of the words, I love The Whomping Willows‘ ‘I Believe in Nargles’:
“You’ve got a voice and it’s imperative you use it
You’ve got the heart to know what’s right and choose it.”

“And it’s a crime to change yourself just to fit in
Let’s face it girl, there’s nothing cool about convention
It’s more fun to make your life your own invention.”

And, of course, Harry and the Potters‘ ‘The Weapon’:
“The weapon we have is love.”

    For personal reason the first thing that comes to mind is:

    Harry and the Potters – Save Ginny Weasley

    “Are you petrified of being Petrified?”

    Too many Mudbloods songs to count (Adam is a genius), but I’m particularly fond of the second verse in Be My Witch..

    “In the DA, about to duel with Colin Creevey. (But! But!) He kicks my ass because every time I’m near you my wand goes up before I’m ready.” Heh.

    Too many again for OBatR, but particularly – of course – End of an Era. I love the callback at the end to the opening line, changing it from a question to a statement and an order. “Don’t you ever wonder what will happen when it ends.”

    The Remus Lupins – Lovely Lily

    “The cobblestone’s a gramophone and she steps on all the twos and fours;
    this rapier wit soliloquy, it’s a heel and toe rapport.”

    Plus the gut-wrenching repeating lines at the end of both “Remember Cedric” and “Lullaby”. Alex knows how to twist the knife, especially in the latter. 🙁

    And Whompy has so many brilliant songs, but I think his best lyrically might be “A Heart Worth Loving”. It’s so earnest and sweet.

    The entire song, “Ode to Those Who Died” by the Butterbeer Experience is hilarious. Also, from DatM, from “Power of Love”:

    Harry Potter, you know that I hate you
    You’re always thinking that ou are better than me
    I know about your weapon
    You think I ain’t got one, but
    I got your weapon, yeah the power of love
    I know you’re thinking, “What’s this guy saying?
    He don’t love nobody, no Draco’s always hating.”
    Well, I’m here to tell you that ain’t true
    I can love stronger and better than you.

    Though it should be noted that I generally love their lyrics. I also like the line from “Seven Potters”, “We cut through the sky like a Gryffindor sword through a snake”.

    As for serious lyrics, though, I go to Split Seven Ways or the Sectumsempras. My favourite is from “Stronger Every Day” by Split Seven Ways, although I love that whole song:

    I don’t want the kisses of the girls of purer blood
    But I refuse to feel like this, I’m sick and tired of love
    I’m a walking contradiction, you might think that I’m a freak
    But I don’t give a damn, and anyway I say that you are weak.

    I also like “Dreams Of What Might Have Been” by her and “Judgement” by the Sectumsempras. So many to choose!!

    Dearest Kate,

    While I am flattered that you like the lyrics to that parody, I must interject that it is also incredibly disgusting. On that note, expect it posted on my myspace tomorrow.

    There are so many… Two of my favorites have already been mentioned; the second part of the first verse of ‘Lovely Lily’ by The Remus Lupins and the chorus of ‘Open at the Close’ by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls. Those songs are both so beautiful… Some of my other favorites include:

    ‘Music is Magic’ by The Remus Lupins:

    “Everything’s gonna be alright in the end
    If it’s not alright, then it’s not the end”

    Because every time things feel hopeless, this line cheers me up.

    ‘Cedric’ by The Moaning Myrtles:

    “Oh, Cedric, I can’t believe you are dead
    Oh, Cedric, now you’re in Twilight instead”

    Because whether you love or hate Twilight, this song is undeniably funny.

    ‘I Found Love in Wizard Rock’ by Catchlove:

    “I never expected to find you here
    But I did
    But I did
    I found love
    I found you
    I found it all in Wizard Rock”

    Because it’s true.

    OBatR, obviously, (“we are the storytellers” in Last Call, End of An Era) as well as MoM and all those everyone mentioned.

    The lyrics of Peeved’s songs are incredibly funny too. I think about “Pretty Girl” and “A Ministry Approved Christmas”, especially.

    I have to say “I’ve never ever felt like this/ you say my name like I exist” from “It’s Real For Us” by Split Seven Ways, and also “So close your eyes and dream again/ pretend you didn’t fall/ Love’s a fool and hate is king/ it isn’t real at all” by Malfoy Manor. “My Dad is Rich” by DatM is just funny, and, um…oh! Peeved’s “The Year Harry Went Emo” is hysterical, anything by Alas Earwax, …this is getting really long. Anything Split Seven Ways, really.
