It’s Tuesday, so I have another question for y’all!
What was the first wizard rock song you ever liked?
Mine was ‘Werewolf Love’ by Tonks and the Aurors. I listened to it over and over again for about a week, much to the chagrin of the Muggle in my household.

Potions Yesterday/My Dad is Rich
But even though I liked those, it wasn’t until I started listening to the Moaning Myrtles that I really got into wizard rock. I LOVED And Then I Died.
Mine was Potions Yesterday by Draco and the Malfoys.

I don’t think that Wizard Rock ever really hit me until I listened to “End Of An Era” by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls.
Then, it made me realize how much I liked Harry Potter and Wizard Rock. It still gets me every time.

I actually got in to it when Pottercast did their live tour thing over the summer, and they had a bunch of bands playing. I did a few Youtube searches, and some Google searches (What would we do without Youtube and Google?) and I think it was Owl Post Strike by The Owl Post and The Mudbloods, as well as Save the Quibbler by Gred and Forge, both off the Rocking out against Voldemedia album, that really made me like Wrock. Then, my obsession grew from there.
Platform 9 and 3/4s by Harry and the Potters was first, and then in 2005 when some more bands starting coming out, My Dad is Rich by Draco and the Malfoys and And Then I Died by the Moaning Myrtles and I’m a Whore for Dumbledore by the Whomping Willows. Man how time flies. That was three years ago!

It was the only song I knew by heart when I went to my first HatP concert. Man…that was a long time ago…
I started checking out wizard rock because of last year’s Jingle Spells, but what won me over was pretty much the entire Back for the Fight album by OBatR, which he had streaming on his website at the time. The song that led me there though was Happy Christmas Day, so I guess I could say that one, or perhaps Lupin’s Tale, which was one of my favorites listening through the album.
Mine would have to be ‘Voldemort is Awesome’ by DatM!
It was the first one I ever heard, and argueably the song which made me fall in love with wizard rock!
I got into wizard rock when my sister received the HatP Power of Love CD for her birthday. (I kind of snatched it away and listened to it before she could even look at it.) So I guess I’d have to say either “Song for the Deatheaters” or “Phoenix Lament,” because those were my favorite songs from that CD.
‘Accio Love’ I had never heard of wizard rock but wanted music to play at my Harry Potter themed birthday party (even here that still sounds a bit silly when you are 26). I stumbled across it on iTunes and bought the Triwizard LP.

It wasn’t the first one I’d heard (seeing as any of them before than I thought were just weird signed artists making fun of the fandom), but then I heard it was an actual band and got into the whole thing.

Accio Love by Ministry of Magic. I had heard some wrock songs before, but it wasn’t until I heard this song that I fell in love with wizard rock.
I had never heard any of the Potters’ music when I invited them to play at my house in November 2004. It didn’t click until they closed their set with The Weapon, and Joe grabbed a lamp and shined it people’s faces while he sang “the weapon we have his love.”
‘Wizard Chess’ was the first wrock song I liked. But the song that cemented my love of wizard rock has to be ‘My Dad is Rich’.

While I first heard of wizard rock through The Remus Lupins, I can’t say that I officially got into it until I heard “I Killed My Owl” by The Whomping Willows.

closely followed by
“Prefects are Hot” by the Moaning Myrtles.
“Save Ginny Weasley” was both the first wizard rock song I heard and the first I fell in love with. Good stuff.
Save Ginny Weasley From Dean Thomas and Song for the Death Eaters by HatP were the first ones I really liked.
“Save Ginny Weasley” was the first song I ever heard, but the first one to ever make me lose my shizz is “The Blood of a Prince”
I don’t remember exactly what song it was, but I know The Remus Lupins was my first band. So probably “Looking for Trouble” or “Loosen Your Tie” or “Remember Cedric” because those have pretty much always been on his MySpace, haven’t they?
Oh, that was a wonderful time. I discovered wrock in late November, and then I realized that The Remus Lupins were playing two shows in my area in two weeks. 🙂
A friend sent my wife and I a YouTube video of The Potters doing Wizard Chess. So I that would’ve been the first song I’d heard. I thought it was kinda fun.
It turned out The Potters and The Malfoys were playing a show in our town about a month later. So, we went and The Malfoys kicked off with I’ve Got A Secret. I was hooked from there. Then during The Potters’ set while playing Keeping Secrets From Me, Joe jumps on a little, flimsy metal folding chair and starts wrapping the mic cord around him, in a complete Iggy Pop fashion. I still don’t know how he did kill himself, but it was an awesome show!

“The Firebolt” by Harry and the Potters was very high on my play count after I first heard it…
A friend told me about Draco and the Malfoys a couple years ago I listened to “Potions Yesterday” and thought it was hilarious… So I listened to more of their stuff… My favorite wrock song during my DatM-days was “Your Family is Poor”. That was stuck in my head for daaaays <3
But even then that was only one band. I didn’t REALLY get into the whole wizard rock genre until Ministry of Magic. ^^ I heard “Snape vs. Snape” on The Parselmouths’ MySpace page and fell in love with it. From there I went to MoM’s MySpace and found I also really liked “The Hero” and “Escape from Azkaban,” which they also had up at the time. But my favorite songs of that time were mostly Snape vs. Snape (possibly STILL my all-time favorite song) and What Kind of Name is Hermione? =D I remember one time when most of my family was away I played those songs with the volume turned up like all the way and was singing and dancing around the house like crazy xD Yeah… I must have contributed like a couple hundred plays to MoM’s play count for SvS XD

I fell in love with Wrock when I heard ‘Accio Love’ by Ministry Of Magic. They’re really awesome 😀
The first wrock song I heard was Looking for Trouble by TRL when Alex was on PotterCast the May before Lumos, but it wasn’t until Brian Malfoy and Matt were on the PotterCast at Phoenix Rising that I really got into wrock… so… I guess it was any one of the songs they played.

And I remember a few weeks after that when I discovered wizard wrock bands beyond Hatp and stayed up into the early morning trying to listen to all of them.
Matt opened his Prophecy set with “House of Awesome”. There were about 5 seconds of WTF going on, and then i was completely hooked!

Probably “Looking For Trouble” by the Remus Lupins. After I heard that, I really got into wizard rock. I’d heard of wrock before, but didn’t know anything about it.

“Open at the Close” by Obatr was the first wrock song I ever connected with. In fact, I didn’t cry at all during that scene when I read Deathly Hallows, but I cried for a solid hour listening to that song some six months after book 7 came out with my roommate in the room…then I found “End of an Era” and started crying all over again.

The first wizard rock song I ever heard all the way through (damn Itunes and their little 20 second clips) was Accio Love By MoM. I was absolutely floored with how amazing and professional it sounded.
I first listened to “Save Ginny Weasley” by HatP, but it wasn’t until I started looking around their friends’ space that I found DatM and really started getting into Wizard Rock. My first (and then favourite) song by then was “Potions Yesterday”, quite like a few others here. Which I think is funny, because “My Dad is Rich” was the one that the site called most popular.
The first was Save Ginny Weasley but I very quickly discovered DatM and got addicted to Potions Yesterday.
Open at The Close – by The Black Sisters.
I just wanted to practice my english by listening to their Harry Potter related videos on youtube and heard this song.
I discovered Wrock thanks to that and am currently spreading it to all the HP fans I know^^
