I am perfectly aware that Halloween has just occured in the United States and that a lot of people get annoyed when they start seeing Christmas things in stores or hear Christmas music on the radio before Thanksgiving. Those of you who are aggravated by such things should be warned; this bulletin has something to do with the winter holiday season. It does not, however, come wrapped in garland or sounding like bells.

Christmas is a popular holiday in the wizard rock community. It makes sense, to be honest, considering how much of a role the holiday played in the Harry Potter series. Pretty soon, holiday wrock songs and CDs will be littering MySpace (and the Wizrocklopedia). In the meantime, and perhaps to prolong the Thanksgiving season, we’ve decided to have one half of our 12 Days of Wrockmas giveaway event coincide with Thanksgiving!*

This 12 Days of Wrockmas this year will take place from December 8th through December 19th, 2008. At least one mp3 as well as one prize will be given away to a Wizrocklopedia reader. While mp3’s will be available for download to any visitor, prizes will be awarded to contest participants only. Submissions will have a thankfulness theme. Watch the following video for rules or scroll down for a test based version.

In order to participate, creatively answer one of the following questions:

1. Why are you thankful for wizard rock?
2. Why are you thankful for Harry Potter?
3. What about wizard rock are you thankful for?
4. What about Harry Potter are you thankful for?

Submissions can include artwork (drawings or digital images), songs, essays, poems, or videos. Please note, video entries must be uploaded to YouTube as responses to the original video. Non-video submissions can be emailed to contests @ wizrocklopedia . com (spaces removed).

One winner will be chosen per day beginning on Monday, December 8th. Please use a valid email address and/or check your YouTube messages and comments during the 12 Days to make sure you don’t miss your submission being chosen. Submissions will be chosen by four Wizrocklopedia staff members. The contest is not a raffle.

The deadline for submissions is December 2nd.

*We do realize that Thanksgiving does not play a role in the Harry Potter series as well as that many countries outside of the US do not celebrate such a holiday or schedule it at a separate time of year. However, the Wizrocklopedia and the majority of the wizard rock community is based within the United States where Thanksgiving is a very popular celebration. We are not advocating the celebration of American holidays to citizens of other countries, but do believe that expressing love and enthusiasm for wizard rock and Harry Potter by sharing why we are thankful for them is more than just something to celebrate seasonally.
