This week has been an interesting and enlightening one for me, albeit unplanned. For awhile now, running the Wizrocklopedia has been more stress and less fun, not just for me but for nearly all parties involved. I’ve never had the chance to devote an entire week to thinking about the structure of the site as well as how we do things. Consequently, I’ve never been able to take full advantage of what the blog is capable of.
While there are still a lot of things being worked on, mainly layout and formatting issues, nearly all of the changes I’ve wanted to make are now established. Things on the ‘pedia are going to be different from here on out. Some of you might not like it. Some of you will love it. My official stance on the decisions I made is that they were necessary.
It’s important that band members and musicians consult our new policies regarding what constitutes news and how that news will be posted on the site at this juncture. The changes I’ve made to what will be written about will probably lessen the amount of posts published regularly by the site. The quality of the content, however, will be greatly increased.
In addition to restructuring the way the Wizrocklopedia is presented, the site was also transferred to a different host this week. While this should have been an easy process without any issues, a couple months’ worth of news posts was lost in the process. These items ARE backed up in a different format, but it may take several weeks for them to be manually transferred to the new database. Also, the WrockWiki is still waiting to be installed. I’m working on implementing it into the regular site so as to eliminate the need to differentiate its content from the rest of the site.
As always, our staff is still striving to find a balance between pleasing the fans and music makers alike. Being wary of our new writing structure is understandable, but I ask that you stick it out for a week or so. I doubt you’ll be disappointed. Any complaints, however, are asked to be directed toward me as opposed to being left in our commenting system.
