Earlier today we brought you the news that The Whomping Willows were breaking up, reuniting, and being signed to Warner Bros. records. Well, according to another blog post, “…the pressures of a major label contract were too much for [them] to handle.” The band is officially breaking up, but Matt insists that he’ll be continuing on with a solo project called The Whomping Willows.

In another unexpected turn, The Remus Lupins also announced plans to change not only their band name but their concept. From now on they’ll be known as The Snapes and will be exploring wizard rock from the perspective of Severus.

In the same announcement, singer songwriter Alex informs us that he’ll be moving to Rhode Island. Alex writes, “Its the hub of the scene. Additionally, as Snape, I have to watch out for Draco and the Malfoys, since they keep getting themselves into trouble out there. It was only last week that Brian got locked out of his car and called me crying about it. Jeez. Freaking Draco.”
