While in attendance at Prophecy in Toronto, Canada, Wizrocklopedia staff members heard a rumor that due to rowdiness at wizard rock performances, HPEF’s symposium Portus 2008 in Dallas, Texas would not have wizard rock on its schedule. We contacted Portus public relations once Prophecy had concluded and they sent us this statement in response:

“The rumors you’ve heard about HPEF removing all wizard rock events are most definitely false. We recognize Wizard Rock as one of the most unique and representative factions of our fandom and would feel incomplete without it. For the past few weeks and months, both before and after Prophecy, Portus has been in negotiations with several groups to perform at some of our Informal Programming events including our Ball, Wizard Rock Concert, and Common Room Unplugged, as well as some new events. We are very excited about our Wizard Rock segments and are hoping to provide all fans with something new to fit their Wizard Rock tastes.”

Additionally, we checked with Narrate Conferences about wizard rock and its presence at Terminus in August. While no official statement was provided, Lead Event Organizer Amy Tenbrink assured us that wizard rock will be present at their Chicago symposium as well.
