The LA Times online has published a sort of guide to wizard rock, highlighting bands Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, The Whomping Willows, The Parselmouths, The Remus Lupins, Bella’s Love, The Hermione Crookshanks Experience, and Marked As His Equal.
The write up provides examples of song titles, the bands’ sounds, and their “Gimmick Factor,” such as this rating for The Whomping Willows:
“Maggiacomo succeeds by bringing some self-awareness to wizard rock, and takes a shot at himself on ‘Wizard Rock Heart Throb.’ Possessing an expert knowledge of all things ‘Harry Potter’ isn’t always a blessing, as Maggiacomo laments: ‘If you’re gonna score with groupies, you gotta be a hunk.’”
