Justin Finch-Fletchley and the Sugar Quills and Draco and the Malfoys performed today at the Public Library in Malden, Massachusetts. The outdoor location attracted dedicated fans as well as curious passersby. The show, which was played out in the street next to the library, was blessed with fantastic weather and, consequently, an enthusiastic crowd.
Hufflepuff wrocker Justin debuted songs he had written just this morning. A video of him performing the two new tunes can be seen on YouTube right here! The wind gave Justin a few problems, blowing the papers containing the new lyrics off of the stage. Two audience members, presumably a witch and wizard respectively, assisted almost immediately, returning Justin’s lyrics to the stage and securing them with various pieces of unenchanted musical equipment. This can be seen in the previously mentioned videos as well.
A highlight of the concert was, most definitely, watching muggles walk by with quizzical expressions on their faces. Malden city workers sat and watched for some time, too, possibly waiting for the street to be reopened, but at least entertained as far as I could decipher.
Draco and the Malfoys erupted onto the stage with a never before played song, the title track off of their new CD, “Party Like You’re Evil.” The evil wrock duo also played “Goyle’s Pants,” which will appear on Cheap Rent‘s Wizards and Muggles Rock for Social Justice compilation album that will help benefit the HP Alliance, and another never before played tune called “Slytherin Pride.” A video of these three songs can also be seen on YouTube, just over here.
Both bands gave terrific performances, so loud in fact that they could be heard nearly a block away.
The Malfoys will be performing with The Hungarian Horntails and Harry and the Potters on the 20th at Harvard Square’s gigantic Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows release party in ten days, where their second album, Party Like You’re Evil, will finally be for sale. They’ll be touring with the Potters after the Book 7 release, one stop being the Prophecy symposium in Toronto, Canada.
