The man behind The Whomping Willows wrote in the blog for his other band, The Jena Campaign, on January 4th about the success of the Willows and the balancing act that is taking place between the two. Here is a snippet from the entry, which I find fascinating, personally:
While I certainly put more effort into the Jena Campaign when it comes to developing and recording an album, I can no longer say that TJC is of higher importance than TWW. The two bands satisfy different things. TJC satisfies my need for a creative, artistic and emotional outlet. It gives me a stage for my feelings and opinions. It’s all about self-expression. TWW, on the other hand, is an outlet for my sense of humor. It’s a means of making new friends and experiencing a taste of what it’s like to be a professional touring musician. It’s also a place where I can explore my non-TJC songwriting urges without the pressure of satisfying a label’s expectations. And, in all honesty, if I push TWW hard enough, I might find myself in a position where I can think about pursuing a music career full time. Any musician who bothers to make their art public is lying if they claim to have no interest in quitting their day job in favor of making music.
The blog also mentions that Bradley and Brian from Draco and the Malfoys have joined Matt in his Jena Campaign efforts. You can check out the rest of the blog by clicking here.
