I have a little story to share this evening.
I have been having car trouble lately and have taken many a ride to and from my father’s house because of it. My stepbrother Michael has been instrumental in making this possible. We headed out there once more tonight, hopefully to retrieve my mode of transportation for the last time for months to come. Unlike myself, Michael listens to the radio. While searching for something decent, I unmistakably heard a man sing the name “Sirius Black.” Of course, the first words out of my mouth were, “Wait!” and we returned to the station. The song appeared to be a parody of Fountains of Wayne’s “Stacey’s Mom Has Got It Going On” telling the story of Prisoner of Azkaban. After returning home I did a quick Google search and discovered that it was released in 2004 by Steve Goodie. I thought I would share it with you. A short clip can be heard by clicking here. Mr. Goodie has another Potter themed song entitled Quidditch Ball Wizard.
I found the blurb about Steve Goodie at Veritaserum.com, in which was also mentioned a Potter parody by Tony Goldmark. He actually has four of them on his CD Rage Against the Mundane. Clips of The Sorcerer’s Stone and Sirius Black are online for your listening pleasure.
Both CDs were released in 2004, so this is not new music. It is, however, new to me, and I thought I would share it with everyone else in case they were unaware of it as well. If parodies are your cup of tea, these albums will be well worth the price just for the wizard rockish tunes.
